TXB MISSIONARY

Loren Kendig

From the first time I visited the Texas-Mexico border many years ago with another missionary and saw the abject poverty, I knew I had to help in some way. I was heartbroken to see families living in cardboard huts with very limited access to running water. Some were getting food from a trash dump.

Since then, God has provided opportunities for me to support many missionary stations on the border by providing beans, rice, clothing, Spanish Bibles and medical supplies. On a few occasions, I have transported used and broken bicycles to a missionary station that ministers to Mexican children. The missionaries have “winter Texans” repair and restore the bikes that are then given to the children after they memorize the required number of scripture verses.

Serving in a support role is a blessing to me, and it also provides opportunities to share the Gospel along the way.
